Bookkeeping and management accounts
Good records are not about tidiness. They are what lets you see a problem in March instead of finding out about it the following January.
Any business that has stopped being able to keep the figures in its head, and anyone whose year end is currently a scramble through a shoebox.
Why records slip
Bookkeeping is the first thing to go when a business gets busy, and the cost of letting it slip is never obvious at the time. It shows up later as a large year-end bill for reconstruction work, a VAT return built on guesswork, or a decision made without knowing the real numbers.
What we do
We keep your records current in whichever system suits you — Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, or a properly structured spreadsheet if your business genuinely does not need software. Bank feeds reconciled, invoices and bills recorded, receipts matched, VAT handled as it goes rather than in a panic each quarter.
On top of that we can produce management accounts monthly or quarterly: a short summary of where the business actually stands, with the figures that matter to you rather than a generic report pack.
How this helps you
- Your year end gets cheaper. Clean records mean less work at the end, which means a smaller fee.
- You can see problems coming. Margin slipping, a customer paying slower, costs drifting — all visible while you can still do something.
- Funding becomes possible. Lenders and landlords ask for recent figures. Having them ready is often the difference.
- You stop doing it yourself. Most business owners are not short of work. This is the obvious thing to hand over.
